After several military exercises between Pakistan and Russia and Pakistan long desire to cooperate with Russia Military weapon, a two week long joint exercise DRUZBA 2017 between Special Forces of Pakistan and Russia, Finally this goal has been achieved. When India jumped into USA wagon abandoning partially Russia which considered Pakistan as one of its ally and overcoming Indian veto not sale arms to Pakistan, it has opened its arm market for Pakistan.

Pakistan after great efforts and with the help of China became full member of Shanghai cooperation Organization (SCO). The cooperation commenced with a two week long joint exercise DRUZBA 2017 between Special Forces of Pakistan and Russia Armies started in Minralney Vody, Russia.  Pakistan has wrapped up a groundbreaking contract with Russia that would, for the first time, open doors for Russian military training of Pakistani army officers.

The rare deal comes amid deteriorating relations between Islamabad and the United States, which has resulted in the halt of all military exchange programs with Pakistan and left a void that Moscow has stepped in to fill. The security training agreement concluded at the end of the two-day inaugural meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Joint Military Consultative Committee (JMCC), said a Pakistan Defense Ministry statement.

The things have changed from that time to date, India is completely joined USA CAMP. USA considered India as its major ally. USA has created a new NATO in the shape of QUAD comprising of USA, India, Japan and Australia to counter China and others that means Russia. USA considers India as counter weight to China. There was virtual summit of Quad on 12th March 2021 in which all four heads of the states of Quad participated and determined in joint communiqué. We have convened to reaffirm our commitment to quadrilateral cooperation between Australia, India, Japan, and the United States. We bring diverse perspectives and are united in a shared vision for the free and open Indo-Pacific. We strive for a region that is free, open, inclusive, healthy, anchored by democratic values, and unconstrained by coercion.

We recall that our joint efforts toward this positive vision arose out of an international tragedy, the tsunami of 2004. Today, the global devastation wrought by COVID-19, the threat of climate change, and security challenges facing the region summon us with renewed purpose. On this historic occasion of March 12, 2021, the first-ever leader-level summit of the Quad, we pledge to strengthen our cooperation on the defining challenges of our time.

On the side Pakistan and Russia held in-depth discussions on avenues of future cooperation. At the end, both countries signed the Contract on Admission of Service Members of Pakistan in the RF Russian Federation’s Training Institutes,” said the ministry statement. The Islamabad-Moscow security partnership has strengthened and expanded since late 2014, when the two former rivals signed their defense cooperation agreement.

Navies of the two countries also recently participated in joint anti drug exercises in the Arabian Sea. The latest naval collaboration took place last week in St. Petersburg, where a Pakistani warship participated in the major Russian Navy Day parade. “It was a very important event for us. Actually, illustration of this importance is that this parade was taken by the commander-in-chief of Russian armed forces, President Mr. Putin,” Russian ambassador to Pakistan,.

“This cooperation is developing into many directions. So, there is quite a wide spectrum. And, of course, this is a reflection of our approach to the relations with Pakistan, which to our country has their own independent value for us.”
