Anwer Farhad, a senior most poet, story writer, essayist and journalist has come out with his new book under the title of “Yehi December Ka Mahina Tha”.

(It was this very month of December)

It is a collection of pathetic short fictions. All stories are written on the debacle, killing, ransom and rape which were occurred freely by the so-called Mukti Bahani (freedom fighters) before and after the coming into being Bangladesh. There are 10 short stories in this book. Almost all are depicting realities and mirroring the face of those cruel, anti-human beings did all kind of injustices, such as raping, kidnapping, beating the old people and women. They snatched everything from those people who were supporting Pakistan as a true patriotic particularly the Urdu speaking population. The torturing, ransoming, killing, kidnapping, raping and dishonoring were started before establishment of Bangladesh. It started from North Bengal (Saidpur, Rangpur, Denajpur and Santahaar), Chittagong, Khulna and Jaissor. More than lakhs Urdu speaking people killed and their factories, houses, shops, workshops and petrol pumps were burnt and looted.

But it is Anwer Farhad’s artistic effort which made easy to turn the ugly realities into fine fiction. It is inevitable for a fiction writer to decorate the facts with the aesthetic literary ornaments to save his creations to become harsh realities, and slogan like writings no matter he is novelist, short story writer and playwright.  Short story writers and other fiction writers have to avoid from write newspaper-like pieces and open expression. The genius and conscious writer uses symbols, metaphors, similes, amorous and allegories during his creative effort.

The title story “Yehi December Ka Mahina Tha”, “Insan Bana Haiwaan”,”Mot kay Farishtay”,Lambi Thi Gham Ki Raat,”Behari”, Khezaan Deeda”,”Pahchaan Ka Lamha”, “Kia Aas Lagai Baithai  Ho” are some of his  stories which may be called very impressive and pathetic.

Anwer Farhad is a seasoned short story writer and knows how a fact can be changed in to a pretty short fiction. He has been successfully demonstrating his creative intuitions in short stories which are included in his book “Yehi December Ka Mahina Tha” and stories which have been publishing in magazines and literary pages of newspapers.
