The four-day defense exhibition 27 to 30 November, was opened by President Arif Alvi. Around 262 high-level delegations from 51 different countries  attended the exhibition.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the president asserted, “Pakistan is a peaceful country and we look forward to resolution of all issues in a peaceful manner. War is no option.”

The president upheld, “Our weapons are for peaceful intent.” He stressed that “instability in regions is not the only paradigm we should be looking at”. “We have handled our borders strongly and sent a strong message to our neighbours,” President Alvi said.

Organized under the aegis of Defense Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), the IDEAS 2018 will bring together defense industry players from different parts of the world.

He said that “Pakistan Army is one of the most experienced forces in the world in the war against terror and we are proud of our martyrs,” he added. He further recalled that there was a time when Pakistan was home to 3.5 million refugees who had been displaced after the Afghan war. “We owed it to our brothers that they should be here and they’re still here, but the world has forgotten about the contribution of Pakistan.”

Besides, Pakistan itself other major exporters of defence technology including China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, USA will have their exclusive country pavilions. The guest countries expected to showcase their latest technological innovations while a large number of senior civil and military delegations and trade visitors from across the globe will attend the event. The event will encompass series of activities ranging from world’s advance defence technology demonstrations, an international seminar, three conferences by the Pakistan armed forces, the IDEAS Karachi Show to a counter-terrorism demonstration.

IDEAS 2018: air show in Karachi | KARACHI: Pakistan’s armed forces presented an air show and anti-terrorism demonstration at Sea View as part of the 10th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar. The JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter aircraft of the PAF enthralled the visitors with an air show at Nishan-i-Pakistan, Sea View. Sherdil aerobatics team also presented a scintillating aerial display. According to a press release issued by the Directorate of Media Affairs of the PAF, this year PAF is participating in the mega event with locally made state-of-the-art military hardware, including Air Defence Command and Control Centres and integrated simulators. Manufactured by the PAF, these simulators are being used to modernise its operational training environment. Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra would also set up their stall at the venue along with a static display of JF-17 Thunder and Super Mushshak aircraft.

10th International Defense Exhibition and Seminar is targeted at top-level decision makers including Diplomats & Senior Government Officials , Ministries & Departments of Defence, Armed Forces Personnel ,Senior Management of Defence-related Organisations, Defence Procurement Experts, Sales & Marketing Personnel, Engineers, Research & Development Specialists, Law Enforcement Agencies, Consultants and Journalists etc.

IDEAS-2018 concludes in Karachi | Large number of people visited the exhibition and appreciated the high standard local and foreign defence products.  Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal has said that various memorandums of understandings were signed under Public-private partnership during IDEAS-2018. Speaking in IDEAS-2018 at Expo center in Karachi on Friday, she said over seventy thousand people visited and watched this defence exhibition.
