COAS GEN QAMAR BAJWA VISITS FORWARD TROOPS AT LINE OF CONTROL

RAWALPINDI (92 News)  Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General QamarJavedBajwa visited forward troops deployed at Line of Control on Monday 14th August 2017.

The COAS was apprised of the recent abnormally frequent Cease Fire Violations (CFVs) from the Indian side and effective response by the Pakistan troops. He was told that the only restraint faced by own troops is the professional ethos of Pakistan Army which bars them from responding in kind when Indian troops target innocent civilians along the LoC.

The COAS lauded the motivation and spirit of the troops. He said that there’s no better way to celebrate independence than defending the country. He said that the Indian Army’s atrocities have not been able to deter the spirit and sacrifices of the brave Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir. “We will always stand with them in their just struggle against repression,” he maintained. Earlier on his arrival, the COAS was received by Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General NadeemRaza. ‘ISPR’

35 injured as blast rips thru parked truck in Lahore

7-8-2017 : A bomb ripped through a fruit truck parked on Lahore’s Band Road, leaving at least 35 people, mostly passers-by, injured on Monday night.  DIG Haider Ashraf said the truck was loaded with explosives and experts were combing through the wreckage. “Allah has saved Lahore from big destruction,” he added. Another top government official also confirmed that it was bomb explosion.“The explosive material was planted inside a truck which was loaded with fruit,” Ab-dullah Khan Sumbal told media. “At least 35 people have been injured, most of them were passers-by,” Sumbal said, adding that the injured have been taken to two hos-pitals.

Three killed, 25 injured in Bajaur blast

Peshawar:  (11 Aug, 2017) A road side explosion in Bajuar agency Friday morning left at least 3 people dead and over two dozen others seriously wounded. The death toll is feared to go up as the condition of many injured have been described as critical.  The security forces that immediately cordoned off the site of the incident, are reported to have kicked off search and net operation in the region to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the filthy act.

Four army men, including major, Martyred during operation in Lower Dir

9 Aug, 2017: According to ISPR, Major Ali Salman of intelligence agency along with his team was conducting an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) against a terrorist hideout in Sherotkai, Timergara, UpperDir when terrorists opened fire on them.One of three terrorists in hideout exploded himself while the other one got killed in exchange of fire. Moreover, one terrorist was detained during the operation.

15 dead, 30 wounded in attack on army truck in

Quetta | 12 August,2017  :  A terror attack on military vehicle near Pishin Stop in capital of southwestern province Balochistan that borders Afghanistan and Iran claimed lives of eight soldiers and seven civilians while left 30 injured. Spokesperson for the provincial government AnwarulHaqKakar has confirmed the number of injured. Reportedly, vehicles in the immediate vicinity caught fire and over ten water tenders were on the site to control the situation.

Pakistan’s leprosy fighter Dr Ruth Pfau passes away

KARACHI(10 August 2017) : Pakistan’s ‘Mother Teresa’, Dr Ruth Pfau, who led a battle against the stigmatised disease of leprosy, passed away early Thursday morning after a long illness. She was 87. She had been hospitalised at a private hospital in the metropolis for two weeks due to age-related illnesses and her condition had been worsening. DrPfau, the founder of the National Leprosy Control Programme in Pakistan, was in charge of the Marie Adelaide Society of Pakistan (MASP), where leprosy patients are treated.According to Lobo, DrPfau had been admitted to the ICU of a private hospital after her health deteriorated earlier. DrPfau, who was born in Germany, came to Pakistan in the 1960s and dedicated her life to taking care of leprosy patients.  It was due to the endless struggle of DrPfau that Pakistan defeated the disease and became leprosy-free in 1996. She was granted Pakistani citizenship in 1988 and received numerous accolades for her services.

Dr Ruth Pfau laid to rest in Karachi after state funeral:

19 Aug, 2107 : President MamnoonHussain, Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Army Chief QamarJavedBajwa, representatives of three armed forces and a number of foreign dignitaries participated in the funeral. The burial ceremony was attended by many state dignitaries, including President MamnoonHussain, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, Chief of Army Staff Gen QamarJavedBajwa, Air Chief Marshal SohailAman and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) Vice Admiral Zafar MahmoodAbbasi and a number of foreign dignitaries participated in the funeral.  Each of whom laid floral wreaths on her grave as a mark of respect.Civil Hospital renamed after DrPfau: Following the state funeral, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced the renaming of Civil Hospital Karachi after Dr Ruth Pfau.

Abbasi says govt to extend full support to Rangers to achieve desired results

Saturday 12 Aug, 2017 : Talking to the news reporters a day-long visit, the prime minister said as committed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, the federal government would spend Rs 25 billion for development projects in Karachi and five billion rupees in Hyderabad.During his meeting with Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, he said he discussed in detail the development projects, including the construction of roads, improvement of traffic system and water supply schemes.

Besides K-4 project, the government could provide even more funds to ensure supply of water to the Karachi residents, he said. He said that among development projects committed by the federal government included the construction of a medical college and hospital in the Karachi University and Greenline Bus Rapid Transit System. In Hyderabad, the federal government would fund the construction of a university, besides other development projects, he said. Prime Minister Abbasi said that the development funds would be spent under the supervision of the Sindh governor and hoped that the projects would complete timely. About his engagements in the city, he said that he had offered Fateha at the Mazar-e-Quaid, met the governor, chaired a meeting on law and order situation, interacted with the businessmen, besides meeting delegations of the MuttahidaQaumi Movement and the Pakistan Muslim League-N.

Neelum Jhelum’s first 969 MW capacity Hydropower Project

The progress regarding the long-overdue project was revealed by Chairman WAPDA, Lt Gen MuzammilHussain (Retd) who briefed prime ministerShahidKhaqanAbbasi about the ongoing energy projects in the country. Regarding 1,410 MW Tarbela IV Extension, the chairman informed that its, First unit of Tarbela IV Extension would be ready for power generation by February 2018, second by April 2018 and the third by May 2018.  Work on Kachhi Canal having a capacity of irrigating 72,000 acres of land has been completed said WAPDA chief.
