From 24 February 2022, when the Russian Federation’s armed attack against Ukraine started, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recorded 3,455 civilian casualties in the country: 1,417 killed and 2,038 injured.  This included: a total of 1,417 killed (293 men, 201 women, 22 girls, and 40 boys, as well as 59 children and 802 adults whose sex is yet unknown) a total of 2,038 injured (241 men, 187 women, 41 girls, and 38 boys, as well as 92 children and 1,439 adults whose sex is yet unknown) Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a wide impact area, including shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, and missile and air strikes. Refugees fleeing from Ukraine (since 24 February 2022)  Last updated 03 Apr 2022

The speed and scale of the exodus is unprecedented in Europe since World War II, and has seen a wave of empathy extended to the women, children and elderly men who have made it across the border.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) agency said  that 4,215,047 Ukrainians had fled across the country’s borders since the February 24, invasion, with more than 2.3 million going west into Poland. Bucha killings: ‘The world cannot be tricked anymore’

The lifeless bodies of civilians line the streets of Bucha, a town on the outskirts of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, that was under Russian occupation until last week. Ukraine and its allies have accused Russian forces of committing war crimes in the areas they captured after invading Ukraine on February 24.Ukraine’s prosecutor general said the bodies of 410 civilians have been recovered so far from areas in the wider Kyiv region after Ukrainian forces regained complete control. Before collecting the bodies, authorities photograph and document them in an effort to collect evidence that may form the basis of a war crimes investigation. Russia denies military forces killed Bucha civilians in Ukraine A spokesman says Russian defence ministry experts ‘have identified signs of video fakes’. Journalists from international media over the weekend found corpses in civilian clothes  some with their hands bound  in Bucha after Ukrainian forces retook the town on the outskirts of Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, from the Russian army.
